| In this witty and warm-hearted account, Ronald L. Harmon tells what it is like to experience life in the remote Bavarian village of Oberammergau. The iron-cold of winter snowstorms contrasts with the atmosphere of a warm-cozy kitchen and the delights of sumptuous regional cuisine. A generous spirit, shown by a loving gentle Bavarian family on Christmas and New years, provides a charm and beauty that allows the true magic of an old-fashioned holiday to shine forth. Once Upon a Bavarian Winter transports us to a favorite haunt, where vivid characters offer a friendly hello as they pass by on their walks and where the temp governs life by the season and not the days. Once Upon a Bavarian Winter is so much more than the typical travel guide. Ronald Harmon makes the German village of Oberammergau come alive with his detailed, warm, and insightful observations of the human and animal friends he meets there on annual visits. -Linda Anderson, co-author of Angel Animals, Exploring Our Spiritual Connection with Animals. Intimate India is a photographic portfolio of images from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. In working on this book I tried to think of each of my photographs as something more than a snapshot. The images are un-stylized, evoke fascination, and show a unique view. All of my work is candid or taken on the go, and I try to create compelling, unforgettable, moving images that reveal the universality of human emotion. I look for beauty, also, but in essence, that is really a huge thing and far too large to fit into any one book. So I look for beauty through the people I photograph – young, old, man, woman, or child. It takes hundreds of shots to capture even a part of it, but that beauty is there in my photographs to be appreciated. | |
