Galveston, Texas, 2003

The hot sand felt good squishing between my toes as I strolled along the beach. The ocean air held the faint fragrance of fish as a cool breeze drifted across my face. It was Saturday evening and I had been out for the day looking for subjects to photograph.  People were picnicking, feeding the gulls, and others were wading in the Gulf. As I walked along, I spied two lovers on the beach soaking up the evening rays together. I had seen so many photographs of lovers sitting on park benches under umbrellas in the rain, and walking along wooded pathways in the fog holding hands. I thought that this was a different approach to the subject of love and it showed the emotion in a still different way. So, discreetly, I took several frames at different angles and this is the photo that I liked best.
